The Pilgrim Way is a book describing touring on a bicycle taking the least luggage you can live with and discarding items that will weigh you down and minimise the enjoyment you'd derive from bicycle touring!Ultra-light touring promises to bring back that unbridled joy of being on a bike without the pain and exhaustion that accompanies touring riders taking everything including the 'proverbial kitchen sink'. Ultra-light means to take the minimal items and stay in hotels and eat restaurant meals instead of cooking the meals in a campsite or road side.Riding any distance on a bike should be fun. This book is about recapturing that sense of fun while travelling longer distances. The idea appeals to me. I wonder if I too, could do this style of touring. I should mention that I have a medical condition with my feet, but also I have been riding a variety of bicycles for most of my life. The one thing I haven't done too much of is cycle touring.Neil M Hanson's book 'The Pilgrim Way' inspires me to think I can do this also. Not the distances he shows in his book, I'm not that fool-hardy, I understand my limitations but Know also what I'm capable of achieving. This book while brief, describes what should be considered before embarking on a touring adventure. Of course, physical condition plays a vital role in such a journey as envisaged as travelling across the Country of residence. This book gave me much food for thought. The bike I would do light tours on, has no gears; it is a fixed gear but the journeys I'm most interested in visiting have minimal hills and safer rail trails. In all, I enjoyed this book. It has me thinking of the Possibilities of what I can achieve while travelling 'Ultra-Light!
