It is OK, but it is to general. Most of the info can be accessed for free on the internet.Examples: 1) good - defines what each type of process is. Bad: no material (steel) chart with recommended temperatures for various processes. 2) good: mentioned that the temp of the material can be "read" by the color of the material at any given time, bad: no color pictures to exemplifies, just a description of the color.....I would recommended for beginners, to get the basic info in one place, but as soon as you past that stage, is basically useless.I would not recommended it to use if you actual want to start doing blacksmithing.

I just recieved the book this last week and I'm happy I did so its pretty straight forwerd. The illastrations are great and givethat extra to help you visualize what you are trying to accomplish.I am aslo please to see it set you up with the modern aproach to the craft so it does not look so far out of reach.A great addition to my library that I have started.

Just starting into blacksmithing after retirement, this book is well researched, thorough and an easy read. It covers most bases and answers the inevitable questions of someone new to the field.

Well written, I thought the sketches were much better than photographs could be. I showed it to my metalsmith sister and she was impressed.
