This is a pretty well written book, fairly unbiased, and delves into the history of the main religions. Would recommend for anyone with an interest in historical theology

This volume is a wonderful skeptical look at the socalled "truths" of the current religious landscape. It is packed with information and will lead to further reading on this subject. It is truly an eyeopener.

I found the book to be an interesting read. Most of the information was pretty much right on historically. Some of it is questionable and unverifiable. I enjoyed the book even though I question some of the historicity

  • By Rebecca Gorsline on January 8, 2011

This book was info packed and very thought provoking. Long after I finished it the subject matter lingered in my mind. Great job! Irene did all the reseach so we all didn't have to! This author has an easy to read style and you feel as if you're sitting down and having a great conversation with her. A great addition to anyone's personal library. I look forward to reading the rest of her books!

I found Pious Fraud to be a most informative and eye-opening book. Since reading it I have a clearer understanding of how the beliefs, ceremonies and rituals of primitive cultures have influenced today's religions. I thought the book was well researched and documented with insights that I had not read before. I recommend this book for all those who want a deeper understanding of religion.
