While these recipes aren't necessarily hers (she admits she culls them from other sources), I'm not sure original and delicious would describe all of Diana Kennedy's work. It is as much for her insight into the culture and cuisines of Mexico as well as her very inviting voice that she is beloved, much like Elizabeth David. Her voice here is more intimate and personal as she provides dishes she has relied on over the years. If cookbooks could be considered a sub-genre of belle lettres, she would be one of it's most important contributors.

Reading Diana Kennedy's recollections is really wonderful. This is a lovely cookbook, and would make a great gift for anyone who loves either cooking or Mexico.

The recipes are unusual and not what I would cook. It is fancy. This book is mis-titled. The title does not tell how the recipes are.
