This is another entry in the Xena style lesbian fiction. Tony (Xena) is a FBI agent with a dark past and Megan (Gabrielle) is an Assistant Coroner. They are brought together by a serial murder case that eventually has closer ties to Megan than they realize. In the process of solving the case, they save each other's lives and develop a relationship. This is actually two books in one. The second book concerns Tony being threatened when she uncovers corruption within the FBI. Both stories are well developed and hold your interest. There are a lot of the predictable comments about the "tall, dark beautiful woman" and her "blonde gregarious lover". The passion between them is alluded to and the reader is given the lead in scenes, but there is no explicit love scene in either book. Interesting stories, pleasant read.

`Chasing Shadows' is a wonderful novel that shows great promise, but the author has only published two books. Paradee is certainly an under-appreciated author, but this reader has certainly enjoyed her writing. In `Shadows,' Paradee introduces the character of FBI Agent Tony Viglioni, a tall brunette woman who is tired of covert undercover work and wants to move to a desk job. In her first new assignment, Tony meets the beautiful blonde Assistant Coroner, Dr. Megan Donnovan. The two women have been assigned to solve the Shadow serial killing case in Cleveland. As the investigation intensifies, they begin to distrust even their closest friends. The only safe place they find is with each other. It's not a terribly deep story, but the characters are likable and the story is engaging. It is written well and the reader isn't bombarded with editorial errors. Probably best read on a road trip, this one is certainly worth the time invested in reading. Here's wishing Paradee would publish again.
